Check out our handy guide for the best places to find Small Gin cocktails around the UK. We’ve interviewed the creators to find out what they think of Small Gin and how they’ve used it to create these exquisite drinks.

Arcane – Manchester

The Northside

  • Hayman’s Small Gin

  • Apple

  • Lime

  • Mint Syrup

  • Mint Leaves

A basement lounge with slick, Victorian décor evocative of the golden age of cocktail making Arcane lives up to that tradition with an exceptional array of cocktails for all tastes.

We spoke to the creator Adam Keeligan on what he thought about Small Gin:

What did you think when you first tried Small Gin?

Interesting concept and great flavour – I’d be happy to drink it on a night out.

When would you have a Small G&T cocktail?

During lunch time business meetings.

How did you go about developing a Cocktail with Small Gin?

I treated it like a normal gin cocktail, lengthening it with water.

What are your thoughts on the Low/No cocktail trend? And how do you see Small Gin impacting it?

People are more aware of what they are putting into their bodies, the binge drink culture is not dead but people are more wary of the outcomes and effects alcohol has. Small gin stands at the forefront as it is one of the better flavoured products in the low category.

Public – Sheffield

A Small White Lady

  • Hayman’s Small Gin

  • Orange ‘No Waste’ Cordial

  • Elderflower Vinegar

  • Egg White

A converted public toilet, Public is an immaculately presented cocktail bar in the heart of Sheffield with table service, food, wine, vinyl records and incredible low/no alcohol cocktails.

We spoke to the creator, Jack Wakelin:

What did you think when you first tried Small Gin?

Brilliant, innovative.

When would you have a Small G&T/cocktail?

Probably never, but it appeals to the designated driver, the teetotal and the straight edge punk.

How did you go about developing a Cocktail with Small Gin?

Start small, aim big.

What are your thoughts on the Low/No cocktail trend? And how do you see Small Gin impacting it?

The low/no trend isn't going anywhere quick. I think Small Gin will have a huge positive impact, I'll be surprised if other brands don't try and emulate a similar product.

The Vault & The Proofing Room – London

The Figuette:

  • Small Gin

  • Aelred Fig

  • Chilled Water

The Vault and The Proofing Room are two of London’s best hidden gems for drinks enthusiasts. Hidden under Milroy’s in Soho and Spitalfields respectively, their incredible range of spirits and insanely talented bar staff can make you anything you want – but we highly recommend the Figuette.

We spoke to the creators, Jack Wallis and Chris Tanner:

What did you think when you first tried Small Gin?

An interesting product to get the flavours of gin without having to commit to a high ABV drink.

When would you have a Small G&T/cocktail?

Pre-dinner or at the beginning of what you think might be a long night!

How did you go about developing a Cocktail with Small Gin?

Using it as a flavour modifier in longer, lighter drinks: fizzes & highballs.

What are your thoughts on the Low/No cocktail trend? And how do you see Small Gin impacting it?

It’s a great product for people who enjoy the social side of going to bars but are conscious about the amount of alcohol they consume.
